Russian-Chinese bridge across the Amur river has been docked
A solemn ceremony of docking of the two parts of the automobile bridge across the border of the Amur river, on the opposite banks of which are Blagoveshchensk and the Chinese Heihe, was held on Friday, May 31.
The construction of the cross-border bridge started in December 2016 in the Blagoveshchensk district of the Amur region, and should be completed by the end of December 2019.
The length of the Russian part of the bridge is 540 meters; 13 kilometers of access roads, which are being built from scratch, will lead to it. The Chinese part of the bridgeis 5.9 kilometers, including roads.
According to the authorities of the Amur Region, the bridge will be cable-stayed with low pylons (extradosed) and a two-lane road. The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East specifies that its daily carrying capacity will be 630 trucks, 164 buses, 68 cars and approximately 5.5 thousand people.
After the bridge’s commissioning, which is planned, according to preliminary data, for the second half of 2020, the passenger traffic on the bridge will be approximately 3 million people per year, and the flow of cargo - about 6 million tons.
